About HDSB Hacks
What is HDSB Hacks?
HDSB Hacks is a new student-organized hackathon-style event, which provides students across the HDSB with the opportunity to demonstrate, elevate and celebrate their technological prowess.
In a hackathon, students develop technology-based projects (software or hardware) adhering to a central theme over a weekend. Students will use their own equipment to develop software and hardware projects and prototypes and will be able to compete individually or in teams of up to four students. Students have the opportunity to win exciting awards and prizes while showcasing their technological prowess!

Kickoff Event
03 March 2023
5:00-6:00 pm
Check your email for an invitational link to the virtual kickoff event. We will be going over the details of the hackathon. We will have a Q&A period to clear any confusion going into the hackathon. Our guest speaker will be present as well.
The Hackathon
03-05 March 2023
Work with your team to create something awesome! You may focus on either software or hardware. Remember that we will be giving out awards that adhere to one of two themes. Note that these themes will be quite broad and hence will not be overly restrictive in nature.
Submission Deadline
05 March 2023

Check the email you registered with for an invitation to the HDSB-2023-Hackathon GitHub organization. Further instructions for submitting your project can be found there. Ensure that your work will be accessible. If the judges cannot review your project it will not be judged. Submitting past the deadline will also result in your project not being judged.
Awards Announcement
2 April 2023
We aim to maintain impartiality and fairness during the judging process. A group of STEM teachers have graciously donated their time to help judge the project submissions. Once all projects have been judged, the awards will be announced.
Note: The awards announcement was pushed back due to delays in the judging process.
